Start your desert trip from Ouarzazate by a wonderful drive across the Anti-Atlas Mountains, via the famous pass of Tizi-n-Tinfifte, as far as Agdz, at the edge of the valley.
Visit the adobe-built Kasbah Tamnougalte and take a walk in the green fields of Dra’a Valley. Drive off-road through the Dra’a Valley’s palm trees, along fortified Kasbahs and via the Ancient Road of the Caravans as far as Zagora.

1st day: Ouarzazate – M’hamid
Start this desert tour from Ouarzazate by morning departure by the 4×4 car from your hotel to M’hamid. Drive over the Anti-Atlas Mountains and via the Tizi-n-Tinfifte pass as far as Agdez as the edge of the valley.
Here, we stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the huge and green unlimited palm trees of Dra’a valley. Shortly after, we drive off-road along the Dra’a valley’s plantation fields, fortified Kasbahs and green oases, and Ancient Caravans Road as far as Zagora, the last town before the Sahara Desert and the venue for lunch.
In the afternoon, our Ouarzazate desert tour continues to M’hamid, which marks the end of the asphalted, indicating the beginning of the Sahara Desert.
Here, an hour to an hour and a half camel ride leads to the highest dunes of Erg Lihoudi to enjoy an unforgettable sunset from the summit of the dunes.
At night, dinner is served, followed by an evening of musical play and drumming, and spend the night in a comfortable nomad tent near the wind-blown dunes of Erg Lihoudi outside M’hamid.
2nd day: M’hamid – Erg Chagaga Dunes
If you get up early enough in the morning, you will be rewarded with a spectacular sunset from the summer of the dunes (300).
After breakfast, an hour to an hour and a half camel ride takes you to M’hamid, where you can learn about the nomadic life of the local inhabitants or choose to visit one of the surrounding villages to learn about life in the south of Morocco.
After lunch, experience a 65km 4×4 off-track through the different landscapes of the Sahara Desert as far as the remote and wild dunes of Erg Chagaga.
At the campsite in Erg Chagaga, you will be welcomed by traditional tea and Moroccan biscuits, then a camel trek leads to the summit of the dunes(300m), from which the sunset is a breath-taking.
At night, dinner is served under a sky full of stars, followed by an evening of nomad musical play around a campfire. The overnight is spent in a comfortable nomad tent near the big dunes.
3rd day: Erg Chagaga Dunes – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou
Get up early in the morning and you will be reward by an amazing sight of the sunrise from the summit of the admirably high dunes.
After breakfast, our desert tour continues with another 100km of off-road driving through the Sahara Desert with varying landscapes; dunes, flat rocky desert, and Iriqui lake where you can hunt for fossils.
Lunch is served in Foum Zguid, the first village after the desert. Back on the paved road, the journey continues roads via Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets and rugs.
Driving further southeast, we arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Hollywood favorite film location in Morocco, Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
You will visit the Kasbah with a local guide who will inform you about the interesting history of this site and point out at places that served as a backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters.
We spend the night in an authentic guest-house overlooking the kasbah.
4th day: Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate
Morning departure from the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou to the Dades Gorges passing by the Skoura Oasis, traveling off-road to see all the kasbahs, some sadly in ruins but ideally placed amongst the palm trees.
We stop to visit the beautifully restored Kasbah Amredhil and tour its small museum.
The main road passes through the valley of the roses, with a stop to have a Berber tea with the nomads and then visit the women co-operatives producing cosmetic products from the abundant roses of the valley.
Our adventure continues along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley which will be the venue for lunch.
Later on, go for a walk through the massive gorges themselves and explore the surrounding garden fields. We return back to Ouarzazate by the end of the afternoon.
