Kick-off your desert tour from Ouarzazate by a scenic drive across the Anti-Atlas Mountains and through Agdz. Visit the ancient Kasbah Tamnougalte and take a walk in the green fields of Dra’a Valley. Go off-road through the Dra’a Valley’s huge palm trees groves, along adobe-built Kasbahs and via the Ancient Road of the Caravans as far as Zagora.
After a short stop in Zagora, the largest town before the Sahara Desert, visit the green pottery craftsmanship and the ancient library in Tamegroute village.
Ride camels to the summit of Erg Lihoudi dunes and the admirably high and beautifully wild dunes of Erg Chagaga (300m), where the sunset is spectacular. Savor dinner, prepared by the nomads, under a sky full of stars, share an evening of music with the nomads around a campfire and sleep in comfortable nomad tents near the big dunes.
Experience 4×4 off-road driving through varying features of the Sahara Desert and hunt for fossils in the dry Iriki lake. Learn about Berber carpet craftsmanship in Taznakht and arrive back at Ouarzazate.

1st Day: Ouarzazate – Erg Lihoudi Dunes:
Begin your desert tour from Ouarzazate by a departure in the morning from your hotel in a 4×4 air-conditioned car. We drive over the Anti-Atlas Mountains and via the Tizi-n-Tinfifite pass to Agdz, which will mark our first stop for a tea or a coffee break.
Shortly after, we go off-track through the Dra’a Valley’s huge palm groves and fortified kasbahs, and along the ancient road of the caravans as far as Zagora, the last town before the desert and the venue for lunch. In the afternoon, we drive to Tamegroute village, where you will visit the Koranic Library and green pottery local co-operatives.
Driving further south, we arrive at M’hamid which marks the end of the asphalted road the beginning of the Sahara Desert. Here, an hour to an hour and a half camel ride leads to the top of the wind-blown dunes of Erg Lihoudi. After a relaxing glass of mint tea and Moroccan biscuits, climb up to the top of the dunes to enjoy the spectacle of the sunset.
At night, enjoy dinner under a sky full of stars, share an evening of music with the nomads, and enjoy an overnight sleep in a nomad private tent near the big dunes.
2nd Day: Erg Lihoudi Dunes – Erg Chagaga Dunes:
If you get up early in the morning and climb up to the summit of the dunes, you will be rewarded with an amazing spectacle of the sunrise. After breakfast, there will be time to walk around the dunes, then the return to M’hamid, which for lunch, will be on camelback.
In the afternoon, we depart to the wild and remote dunes of Erg Chagaga. Enjoy a 65Km of off-track driving through the different features of the great Sahara Desert; ‘Erg’, sand dunes, ‘Reg’, rocky desert, ‘Hammada’, flat ground, and oases.
Here at of Erg Chagaga dunes, a camel ride will lead to the summit of the highest (300 m) to experience moments of pure tranquility and an awesome sunset.
At night, dinner will be served under a sky lit by millions of stars, followed by an evening of nomad music and drumming and an overnight sleep in a nomad private tent in a desert camp in the wildest and largest Sahara Desert in Morocco.
3rd Day: Erg Chagaga Dunes – Ouarzazate:
If you get up early in the morning and climb to the top of the dunes, you will be rewarded by a spectacle of the sea of sand and the sunrise is awesome.
After breakfast, our journey continues from Erg Chagaga desert to Ouarzazate through another 95km of off-track driving through varying features; wind-blown sand dunes, dry Iriqui Lake, where you can search for fossils, and mountains.
In Forum Zguid, the first town after the desert, there will be an opportunity to take a shower to freshen up and to have lunch.
Back on the paved road again, we drive through the village of Taznakht, where you can stop to learn about Berber rugs and carpets, perhaps purchase one if desired. By the end of the day, we arrive back at Ouarzazate.
