Itinerary:

1st Day: Ouarzazate – Erg Lihoudi Dunes

Start your tour from Ouarzazate to the dunes of Erg Lihoudi, passing by Agdez, at the head of the Dra’a Valley, where we stop for a coffee or tea break. Later on, we drive off-track through the Dra’a Valley’s unlimited palm tree groves as far as Zagora, the last town before the desert, which will be the venue for lunch.

In the afternoon, we continue to M’hamid, which marks the end of the asphalted road and the beginning of the desert. Here, an hour to an hour and a half camel ride will lead to the desert camp in the wind-blown dunes of Erg Lihoudi.

Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by mint tea and Moroccan biscuits. Afterward, you can climb to the top of the dunes to witness an unforgettable sunset. At night, dinner is served followed by a small party of nomad music and an overnight sleep in your private nomad tent at the foot of the dunes.

2nd Day: Erg Lihoudi Dunes – Ouarzazate:

If you wake up early, you can climb to the summit of the dunes to witness the spectacle of the sunrise. After breakfast, you will return to M’hamid on camelback and our desert trip continues driving north as far as the village of Tamegroute, where you will visit the Koranic Library and the green pottery crafting.

From here, we drive north along the ancient road of the caravans to Kasbah Tamnougalte. After lunch, a visit is scheduled for the Kasbah with a local guide. The kasbah is completely built out of adobe, very common in the area of the oases, to deal with the weather conditions.

Our desert adventure continues to Agdz, where we shall stop for a tea or a coffee break. We cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-n-Tinfifite pass to arrive back at Ouarzazate by the end of the day.
