1st day: Marrakech – Dades Gorges
Begin your tour from Marrakech by a departure in the morning from your riad or hotel to the Dades Gorges in southern Morocco. Travel across the often snow-topped Atlas Mountains and via the fascinating pass of Tizi-n-Tichka.
All along the road, there will be stops at panoramic viewpoints to take photos, to admire the beautiful Berber villages perched on the side of the mountains and the fertile valleys, full of roses, olive trees, and goats searching for grass and herbs.
After the Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2260m), you leave the main road and take a side road to the Kasbah Telouet, some parts of it are in ruins, while others are still intact and represent Moroccan tiling art and wood craftsmanship in the feudal period of the lords of Atlas.
Just before Ouarzazate, drive to Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is also well-known as being the backdrop to many Hollywood blockbusters; including “Gladiator”, “Prince of Persia” and some scenes of the famous Tv show “Game of Thrones”.
After lunch, you will visit the kasbah with a local guide who will provide great insights into the history of this fascinating site and points out interesting locations that were used as a film set.
After crossing Ouarzazate, you arrive at Skoura Oasis, where you can wander the plantation fields, visit the beautifully repaired Kasbah Amredhil and tour its small museum. From here, the itinerary goes through the Beautiful Valley of the Roses and arrive at Kel’aa M’gouna, where you can visit the cosmetic cooperatives.
You stop in the Dades Gorges in a beautiful guest-house overlooking the fertile and green valley for dinner and night.
2nd day: Dades gorges – Marrakech
After breakfast, there will be time to wander the forges some more, before you travel from the Dades Gorges to Marrakech via the fascinating Boumalne Dades Valley. Driving further west, you drive through the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, where many fortified kasbahs stand tall among the palm trees.
Once in Ouarzazate, a visit is scheduled to the kasbah Taourirt, a symbol of the town and formerly a palatial residence of the last Pasha of Marrakech and the powerful Glaoui Family.
Afterward, you go off-road as far as the hidden gem of Fint Oasis, nestling among the mountains, which once served as the crossroads of caravans between Mali and Marrakech, and is a beauty of nature.
Here, savor lunch in a terrace overlooking the green valley and the small village to get an idea of life in the south of Morocco. You cross the Atlas Mountains and arrive at Marrakech to complete the trip at the end of the afternoon.
